Jewish tours of Paris: five private visits, one guide
A Jewish tour of Paris can mean very different things: a walk through the Marais and the old Pletzl, a reading of the Louvre through biblical and Jewish history, the hidden synagogues of the 9th arrondissement, or a day built around your own family story. These five tours cover that range. Every one of them is private, led by me in English, French or Hebrew, for a group of one to six people, at a fixed price for the whole group.
I am Orlie, certified guide-conférencier (carte professionnelle, CNAM) and official guide at the Museum of Jewish Art and History (MAHJ) in the Marais. That card is what lets me guide you inside the national museums, through the professional entrance, rather than commenting from the doorway.

What each tour is about
One page, one intention: every tour has its own page with the full itinerary, who it is for, what is included and the questions travellers ask before booking.
The Marais & the Pletzl
The historic heart of Jewish Paris: rue des Rosiers, the hidden synagogues, the old Pletzl, told from the inside by an official guide of the Museum of Jewish Art and History.
View this tour →The historic heart of Jewish Paris, rue des Rosiers and the courtyards of the Pletzl, the Guimard synagogue, the memorial sites approached with care, and the MAHJ where I guide every week. The natural first tour, and the one that pairs best with a kosher lunch in the neighbourhood.
The Louvre, a Jewish Reading
From ancient Judea to the great collectors: the Louvre holds a Jewish story most visitors walk past. My degree in Art History from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne is what turns this visit into a reading, not a stroll. Available by day, or as a Louvre by Night visit on Wednesday evenings.
View this tour →A focused route through the collections, from the stele of Mesha and the antiquities of Judea to the biblical scenes of the European masters and the Jewish collectors who shaped the museum. By day, or as a Louvre by Night visit on Wednesday evenings, when the galleries empty out.
Musée d'Orsay: A Journey Through the Birth of Modern Art
The Musée d'Orsay is much more than a museum of Impressionism. It is a museum of transition: the place to witness one of the most fascinating turning points in the history of Western art, read by an art historian.
View this tour →How painters moved away from academic conventions and invented modern ways of seeing, read by an art historian inside a former railway station. Available on Thursday evenings as Orsay by Night, a quieter museum with more room to stop and talk.
Secret Jewish Paris
Jewish Paris does not end at the Marais. This tour follows the lesser-known map: the 9th arrondissement synagogues, faubourg courtyards, memorial plaques and the neighborhoods where Jewish Paris actually lives today.
View this tour →Jewish Paris beyond the Marais: the Grande Synagogue de la Victoire and the 9th arrondissement, workshops and passages of the faubourgs, memorial plaques on school walls, and the neighbourhoods where the community lives and shops today.
Build Your Own Tour
Family roots in a specific street. A bar mitzvah trip. Three generations traveling together. Tell me what this visit means to you, and I will build the route around it.
View this tour →Your grandmother's street in the 11th, a bar mitzvah trip, a day that mixes the Marais with the Louvre. We start from a conversation, I draft an itinerary, we refine it together. For children, my Young Explorer activity kit keeps the youngest engaged.
How booking works
-
01
Send me your dates
Through the contact form or on WhatsApp: when you are in Paris, who is coming, which tour, or simply what you would like to see. Tours run Sunday to Friday, never on Saturday or Jewish holidays.
-
02
We agree on a time and a meeting point
I answer personally. We settle the day, the start time and a meeting point near the first stop, usually a métro exit or a landmark you cannot miss.
-
03
We walk
Your group only, at your pace, in the language you chose. Museum tickets, where they apply, are the only extra; everything else is in the price.
Which tour first?
If you have one day: the Marais. It is where Jewish Paris began and where it still eats, prays and argues. Two and a half hours on foot, then lunch on rue des Rosiers.
If you have two days: add the Louvre. The museum tour is indoors, works in any weather and reads very differently once you have walked the Marais the day before.
If you are staying over Shabbat: plan the walking tours for Friday morning or Sunday, keep the museums for a weekday, and use the Shabbat & Kosher page for Saturday itself.
If this trip has a meaning, a street, a name, a family date: start from Build Your Own Tour and tell me the story. That is the kind of day I build most carefully.
Questions travellers ask before booking
Are the tours really private?
Yes. Every tour is for your group only, from one person to 6. You are never merged with other travellers, and the price is the same whatever your number.
What languages do you guide in?
English, French and Hebrew, myself. Other languages are sometimes possible on request: tell me what you need and there is often a way.
How much does a tour cost?
A fixed price for the whole group, shown on each tour page together with the per-person equivalent at 6. Museum tickets are the only extra and are stated where they apply.
Can we tour on a Saturday?
No. I keep Shabbat, so tours run Sunday to Friday and never on Jewish holidays. The Shabbat & Kosher page tells you what is possible on a Saturday on your own.
Can two tours be combined in one day?
Yes. The Marais in the morning and the Louvre in the afternoon is the classic full day. Tell me when you book and I will plan the break and the lunch around it.
Ready to check your dates?
Send them to me with your group size and the tour you have in mind. If your dates are not showing as available anywhere, tell me anyway: there is often a way.
